Hi! I have a Fluval Evo 13.5, has anyone kept a bubble tip in it successfully with the stock light? I will eventually get a Kessil a80, but for the time being they have one at my LFS for $25 a bit smaller than a baseball.

Thanks!

Don't believe so. I hear the lights are only good for softies and some LPS. Hopefully somebody with the lights can chime in though

That's what I seem to be picking up too. They're my favorite anemone.

The light is a 16w 14000k LED, for anyone reading that can put that into perspective.

That light is not going to be enough for a bubble-tip. It's also hard to keep them in such a small tank. It may crawl up to the overflow and completely block it, causing a flood and a bunch of other issues.

Gotcha, yeah probably not best, I'll stick to leathers and Zoa haha.

Thank you though!
No problem! Keep at it and you'll have an amazing looking reef in no time!

I've had mine in the exact same tank with stock lights for 6 months or so and it does fine. It'll occasionally move but only two or three times so far.

How long have you had your tank? Do you do anything special? Like more water changes, better filter? Powerhead? Etc.

And when you say "move" do you mean it moved from one side to the other? Or? I'm not familiar with anemones too well.

Are bubbles aggressive? Can I keep them with other corals? Leathers, Zoa, etc.

It usually stays on the same rock but on time it moved from the far side to the middle. I do frequent water changes weekly and if residency isn't too busy I'll do twice weekly.

What are you stocked with? Or is the water changes specifically for the bubble

I've had zoas and they do fine with it. Never had an issue with aggression, although I had an emerald crab that was kind of a jerk and would steal mysis shrimp from him when I direct feed the anemone (crab is no longer in the tank).

Haha that's funny. You seem to do a lot that I don't (direct feed, 2 weekly water changes, etc.) so probably not the best pick for me still :(

I've actually taken all my corals out (sold them) and have been waiting to buy new frags to put in. School loans have been trumping the coral buying so I'm not sure when that'll be. I do the water changes just to keep things in line because in a tank this small there's less room for error because there's less volume (in my opinion anyway).

I have all stock equipment in it plus the skimmer. And fish I have: 2 clowns, six line wrasse, dragon goby and just recently sold my flame angel.

This is where he had started in the tank.

Yeah I'm in the same boat kinda, I'm in college right now and looking to have a little tank on my desk, I'm looking to do weekly water changes, just waiting to get my bucket of salt. How much do you change when you do yours? 15%?

I turn my pump off and take out water just as low as the outlet nozzle then fill it back up.

Hey everyone, i decided to take the leap and try to house this anemone. He's opened up fully, clowns are hosting, but... he's under the rock. Can someone explain why this is? Should i move him? He needs light to live, so why is he under there?

He looks pretty bleached to me. Unless its just a very lightly colored green one. In a week or so I suggest you try and feed it some bits of mysis shrimp or something. That will help it heal and feedings definitely will contribute to its health overall even once its completely healthy
