Sometimes it looks full of life then sometimes it looks like life drained out of it, is this normal.

Yes. They often deflate after grabbing food or at night. As long as they are fully opening again it is fine. If they stay shriveled for long periods without opening, or the mouth gapes, more of a concern.

Does it seem to eat a lot? Anemones do not need much feeding with proper lighting.

BTW, Welcome to R2R!

I have a kessil a80 on a 13.5 gallon, I put it in the tank, it moved about 2"s from where I sat it and that's where it stayed. But sometimes its gorgeous & sometimes it looks all shriveled.

First time it started to close.

Got it. The lighting should be fine. I would not feed it directly in that size tank. I would feed the tank lightly in general at that size.

Looks nice!

Yeah, if it closes into the column, that is absolutely normal.

That is a bit more straggly. How long like that? Has it done that and then come full again, or is this a new state?

I would not worry then. You should start a tank thread and show it all off.

Can you describe your set up? With such a small tank, it's hard to keep parameters consistent, which may explain why the nem may deflate. However, in the photos, the nem looks fine.

13.5 fluval evo
Intank chamber 1 basket with filter floss & a media bag
Intank chamber 2 with carbon
3rd chamber return pump

I'm more concerned about temperature and salinity swings. Do you have an auto-top off?

Do you not have a protein skimmer?

How often do you do water changes?

No I top it off myself with rodi, salinity changes aren't much I use a Milwaukee refractometer I check that constantly.
