Hey there, I've recently purchased a bubble tip anemone and was wondering what to feed it. This slipped my mind when I got it

First thing is to have enough light for it. In regards to feeding I feed mine meaty foods like small pieces of clams and mysis shrimp, squid. I feed mine once a week.

I personally don't like to feed bubble tips within the first week or so (some do to make sure "they're happy with their new home"), as I've found this tends to stress them out. I would focus on making sure they are protected from your powerheads/overflow, ensuring the lighting is adequate, but won't hurt them, and they have plenty of different flow spots to choose from. Let them find a nice place to hide their foot and you might have to move your corals as the nem gets the final say on where it goes (avoid moving the nem during this time).

Once it settles and seems happy, I would go for smaller meaty bits. Avoid large pieces like silversides, which the nems seldom are able to digest in one go. I've fed them everything from pellets, to reef frenzy, to chopped muscles/clams/tilapia.

if you have bright lighting with strong par and good spectrum you shouldn't need to feed it. in my experience feeding can stress the anemone out more than it does good. i had a huge rbta and i fed it because i thought it needed food. it shriveled up for a month and just split a few days ago. so if you like the anemone staying 1 and getting large don't feed at all , if you want it to split feed it

Got it. I've got a biocube 32, so the lighting is substantial. I do have some mysis shrimp so I'll use that after the first week.

Got it, thanks

Many people kill their nems by spot feeding, way to frequent, as stated above, their primary nutrition is from their photosynthetic process. Their digestive system is real, real slow. Once a month is fine, never is fine too.

Also, if you broadcast feed you tank, it will eventually grab a piece. I never directly feed mine as they grab food from the water column.
