I’ve been posting a lot of negative things recently regarding my tank. But today I saw something that made me smile after coming home from a 5 day holiday I came back to my bubble tip anemone splitting after 1.5 months of being in my tank. Must be doing something right. Is it normal for it to split while being so small?

Splitting at that size is often a stress response to increase the odds of survival. :(

The only time my bta split was when he was stressed.
But 2 is better than 1, unless the 2nd crowds your corals.

A split is a split! Congrats on the new nem!! If mine decide to split that small, I make a point to feed both of them just to make sure they grow up big and strong

I agree a split is stressed. You said you have been having problems. what problems and what are your parameters? Its a beautiful BTA

Nems do have a tendency to split when they are stressed or in poor conditions but that is not the only reason. A lot of very successful reefers have mentioned coaxing their nems into splitting with 3-4 feedings per week and alternating foods. Nems will also split if they have excess energy and an abundant food source. It takes a lot of energy to split so they take advantage of being overfed to repopulate.
Great colors btw!

My nem splits off two babies every 28 days exactly. I feed it every day :). The mother nem shows no change after the babies arrive, kinda scared about how big she truly is if she’s able to produce two 3” babies and show no change herself

Want to sell me one? :). Collecting various BTA for an BTA only tank.

dang why yall gotta say it could be a stress response I got happy. The issues I’ve been having are related to ich or something similar and I’ve been fighting it for so long ah
