Hi all

I have just added a rose bubble tip anemone to my tank, bought from a fellow reefer. Wave makers are covered and I read they like high light and good flow so I have placed it on the top of a rock half way up my tank, about 250par. I know it will probably move but how sensitive are they to changes in light? Should I run my acclimation mode on my lights?

Introduce at low light and water flow until it finds its happy spot

Introduce at low light and water flow until it finds its happy spot
Thanks. Do you mean place it in a low light position....or lower my lighting until it finds the spot it wants and slowly ramp back up?

I would not change my schedule or intensity for a nem.
Unless you have nothing sensitive to light in your DT.
He’ll will locate the best of these two things automatically. 71483B6D-4A61-4420-88ED-6B30797DD56E.jpeg

Introduce under low lighting
You can ramp up 3-5% daily until desired intensity but caution that they will move if light intensity or flow too high

I've never light acclimated mine. I just try and add them during the ramp down period. I keep my powerheads turned down over night. In the morning I make sure they're attached and return previous settings. They will wander a while and eventually settle. In my case the 4 I have have not moved since.

I also never light acclimated mine, purchased in Semptember from a local reefer, added a third Hyrdra 32 end of December and within 24 hours it split, but both halves are healing well.

Honestly you can just float them and then drop them in, they’re hardier than people think.
Unless your salinity has a huge difference from where you got them just turn off the power heads for 15-20 minutes while you let them settle in and just make sure your power heads are covered in case the nem wants to relocate itself somewhere else it doesn’t end up being sucked in and becoming a smoothie inside your tank.

I agree with all saying the lower the better. It will find its way to the best position, mine still hides in a cave, puts out an arm/ leg to capture light... It can move without my intervention :)

Thank you,
Still really new and trying to learn I don't want to get something and not know anything about it, how to take care of it or if it's even compatible with what I have
If new don't get an anemone. Best case scenario is having a tank that is around a year old before attempting.

I got my anemone early Dec, drip acclimated along with other new inhabitants, hopefully pics provide progression on 2 months? I placed in aquriam and it just moved to this cave? It has remained since. I just assume it's happy otherwise it will move.

Could be wrong because of shading but the nem looks a little bleached. What lighting/photoperiod are you using?
