Last night I got home and my bubble tip anenome was caught in my power head. I safely removed the guy and put him into my sump in an empty area. I wasnt sure if he was killed by the powerhead. I left him alone and just checked and he attached himself to a filter rock and is somewhat blooming open. When I detached him from the power head there was no tips showing. I just put him back into my main display so if it is alive he could still feed and try to heal. What do people think. Idk if he is alive or dead or if he will heal from his injuries. I have attached photos of him in light light and blue light to shield his current state.

I had that happen close to 2 years ago but my bubbletip Anemone was ground up into small debris. As I was vacuuming the tank to clear it, I found a dime sized bit of “snot” stuck to a return line. I kept it and was able to determine it was a tiny bit of foot and and sliver of mouth, no tentacles at all. It formed nubs of tentacles after a month and slowly formed a complete mouth and foot by fusing the ends of its linear tissue. After 4 months it was about 1.5 inches across - it was about 8 inches across before the blender. Once the tentacles were back they slowly turned faint green then darker and after a couple of additional months turned their original red. The Anemone is now closing in on 8 inches across again.

Conclusion from my experience is that if yours does not become infected, it should recover pretty quickly. I never did anything with mine to disinfect it.

So should I leave him there in the main tank or back into my sump. I think being in my sump he wont get much food so I moved him up there of he is alive to feed. I just know its fragile if it is still alive and want to make sure he doesnt detach and become again in the blender. What do u think is best to keep him safe.

If it is attached I would leave it alone and keep an eye on it. If it starts looking slimmy and starting to deteriorate then pull it. I have seen some on here that have snapped back but yours looks pretty rough from the pic. They are beautiful animals and I hope it recovers! I would invest into some covers for your power heads they are pretty inexpensive. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Should I leave him in the main display or put back into sump. What would be best for him

Honestly, I would leave it be where it is an monitor.

I left mine in the main tank. It quickly moved to a fairly dark area at the back (how it managed I couldn't figure out since it did it in about 36 hours) but at least there it could capture ReefRoids and such that I fed the tank. It didn't really have any zooxanthellae after the injury since it was a translucent white and then slowly over weeks turned green and ultimately red so particulate food was certainly the way it kept fed. Again, yours look FAR better than mine and mine is now big

Its badly damaged but do keep an eye on it. if its' foot starts to look like a head of cauliflower OR it begins to shed. its' done and remove it at your soonest

Woke up this morning and its foot was gone and was complete mush it was all slimy so got rid of it before it broke down anymore in my tank

Using a small cup , work it in there and transfer to toilet. Sorry to hear.

I like the idea of leaving him in the sump where it is out of harms way. My only concern would be lighting.

I've pulled Nems out of power heads only to find them there again.

Very sad to hear that. At least since was an aquarium Anemone it was likely a division so it is still alive elsewhere. Don’t be discouraged, this was a freak accident.

I still have 2 more in there. I just bought a green flower anenome and I have an Atlantic purple cordonis one I'm going to wait a little but of time and get another one that is more colorful.. thank you for the support
