So I'm currently one month in on my first bta. I have read many times that they can grow fast, so I'm just hoping for some confirmation that things are on track. I don't have very powerfull lights, but my rockwork is tall enough that it should be able to find a spot with the right amount of light. Its been in the same place for three weeks and has gotten bigger.

First picture is when I got it, about the size of a nickel.

Second picture is today, one month in and has gotten big enough to hide my large turbo snail behind it. Does this sound about right for growth, or is it a little slow? I have never watched one grow before. I feed small amounts of Mysis twice a week.

Yeah my bta stay same size as well. Dunno what’s wrong? I feed it once a week due to starting size and is under kessil360we. Havens increase in size at all

Sorry your nem isn't growing. Mine has at least doubled in size so far and I am only using Orbit Marine IC Pros. I have 2 of them, so I wonder if that is the difference. I have heard that they can grow really fast when happy, I just don't know what is considered really fast for these guys

I suggest to feed once a month. I got 1 California Rainbow BTA 2 years ago and wound up with 12 so far!! (I have sold 6 so far) They only eat what they catch when I feed my fish.

I rarely feed my btas and they grow just fine (rbta is about 12" diameter). They do catch some food when I feed the fish though. What kind of lights are you using?

I have 2 36 inch orbit marine ic pros sitting directly on top of the tank to get as much light out of them as I can

OK I actually like those lights and have used them on my fowlr tank in the past but for a nem I would look into something a bit brighter. Any way you can rent a par meter so you can get a real answer on how much light it's getting?

I would like better lights, but those were what I could afford at the time. I live near Toronto and aparently you can't rent a par meter around here, I have looked. Acording to the info that orbit put out about these lights, my rock work goes high enough that it can get up to 220 par if it goes for a walk higher up. Where is has been sitting for the past 3 weeks, it should be at around 160 par. This is all assuming that the numbers they put out on their website are correct

I would be hesitant to believe their numbers... I bet you could get a nice new black box for cheaper than the orbits.

Anyways it doesn't look like the nem is bleaching or anything so just keep an eye on its color and make sure it's still nice and sticky

Will do, thank you!!

I have never directly feed my anemones and they grow like crazy. Like most things in our tanks, they grow slowly and before you know it they grow exponentially

I never feed my nems directly. They get whatever they can from the water column when I feed the tank. All three seem to be growing a little and doing fine.

Are you in a hurry for them to grow or just thinking they should because other people have said they grow fast?

As long as it's healthy isn't that enough?

It is enough, but just do to the sheer tiny size of the nem and the idea in my head of my breading pair clowns hosting it, I would like it to grow. That being said, I'm pretty sure just to spite me, my clowns will probably never notice it

lol. I have 3 decent size nems in my tank and my clowns go nowhere near them. It's been 3+ months and they still show no interest.

They are tank bred/raised clowns that never saw a nem before this, so they probably have no clue.
