Need some advice. This rbta has been with me for a few months now. Recently moved, started folding sides in, shrinking tentacles, losing color. I’ve had one other that was a clone do the same thing. Eventually it died. I’m running radion gen 3 @40% was 50%. And the light is about 8 inches above the water. All other anemones are fine.
My nitrates and phosphate are high, about 30/.98
All other parameters are as follows.

Salinity 1.025 w ato
Alk. 10.4
Cal. 480
Ph. 7.8
Temp 77
Trying to get ph up with outside air to skimmer.
Running charcoal, chemipure blue, phosgaurd, denitrate. Weekly 20% water change
Tank is 65 with sump and separate 5g Refugium.
And the tank is a little over a year old.

I have cipro, and can quarantine, just don’t wanna stress it anymore.

Any ideas? Could the night nitrates/phosphate cause this?

I'm not a nem expert, but I believe shriveling tentacles are an indication that its starving so it starts consuming itself to live. #reefsquad any nem experts out there?

Yeah, but the light should be strong enough, and it also grabs mysis shrimp and and rods food when I feed, plus the clowns regularly feed it. I have target fed it, but I usually see it eat when I feed the fish...

Are you able to move the entire rock to a different location? I know that you have a gorg on top? Try placing in different flow. It’s currently stressed out where it’s at.

anyone know why they tend to lose their bubbles (like mine)?

There is another thread someone started on this not long ago.

We don’t really know the reason. Mine do this as well without any changes to flow or light. One week it will have bubbles, the next week it’s long and stringy. But some will remain bubbled and others stringy without change.

My anemone was doing great for almost a month and now it’s not extending its tentacles. Is there anything I can do?

I would also suggest moving the entire rock to a different location. It’s not happy where it’s at. You want to entice it to move so that it will spread out.

BTA can do this when stressed but should bounce back. If it’s been a full month then make sure there is no ammonia in your system. Do you have enough light?

Thank you. Ammonia was good last I checked, but I will double check. I believe I have plenty of light, this picture was taken during the evening before lights went out.

I was able to remove anemone from rock and placed it in breeder box for now. It seems to be showing more tentacles and color. It definitely was stressed where it was at before. Thanks for the help.

That’s great. Just make sure that water flows through it. If there is a scum on the surface inside the Breeder box then you might need to manually empty the water.

It's possible if you have multiple anemones that they don't get along. Are they all BTA? Even if they are "Chemical warfare" still may happen.

Take this as you may, but I don’t believe your NO3 and PO4 are remotely a problem. I have thriving BTA’s in 160ppm nitrate and 2ppm Phosphate. I personally would lower your alk. But it could be multiple things.
