Had my BTA split about a month and half ago. But it’s never seemed to have recovered. Both BTA’s stay small now, seem to have the insides hanging out since the split and never really take any food anymore. There is a pair of clowns that call them home and really don’t give them a minute to relax.

BTA experts what do you see, what do you recommend, or what’s your previous experience?

Do you have an FTS. It looks like those Palys might be reaching towards the sky - if so, this is an indication that you could need more light.

what is your par? What light are you using?

I have never checked par, but these BTA’s and Paly’s/Zoa’s are on a vertical faux rock wall. So I believe they are naturally inclined to grow upwards. But I will try to find a way to measure the par. They are about half way mid range in the tank.

I have a total of 5 Dsuny LED fixtures and 6 48” T5HO 54w ATI bulbs. 4 coral plus 2 actinic

What size is your tank? How long has it been set up? What are your tank parameters? Salinity, Alk, Ca, Mag, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate levels? I only see saw power head it the upper right. Is that correct?
The most common reason anemones split in our tanks is stress. ALK levels changing especially going high is probably the biggest reason. When conditions are poor they split to increase the odds one will survive. New tanks and environments are another big stresser for BTAs. They often split shortly after being moved to a new tank.
It is hard to say without more info. It does not look like there is enough flow or light from the photos. Anemones like to have there foot where they can retract themselves to get away from light, flow and preditors or anoying fish. They also like to be able to extend out to absorbe the light and grab food in the current around them. They prefer lots of light and flow easily accessible to them. It also looks like a new tank. Anemones often strugle in newer tanks until the tanks become more established. Usually around 6 months. Anemones love a tank with nitrates as they absorb it directly as food.
6 T5 bulbs should be plenty light if your tank is 4 foot, but all your photos look very dark.

I think you have enough light. I would first ensure that my rodi water going into the tank was 0 using a hand held tds meter. Then do weekly 10% water changes and see how they do. I had a very bad experience with my 20 year old btas when my rodi wasn’t working but the inline meters indicated the unit was working correctly.

The tank has been running since September last year. I have one Jebao CP-150 gyre and a Jebao OW-40 on the other side. Then running a return with 2 RFG nozzles and two returns near the surface for added agitation. Tank is 400gallon DT.
Photos taken in the morning while lights were ramping up still.

I will check my RODI water, my meter still says 0 but that could be a good area to check as I go solely on that inline meter.
Tank has a 60 gallon ATO so should keep parameters stable. Currently at

Calcium 420
Alk 9.75
Mag 1300
Sal. 1.023
PH 8.15

Thank you guys for helping me out, struggling as I’m a newb to BTA’s

More info on the BTA I naught him small, maybe silver dollar sized. He was doing great for months. He would eat every 4-6 days either pieces of silver sides, clam and squid. Started growing nicely and one day after a feeding he split the next day. Fast forward and we are here.

mine usually split when stressed

Maybe my clowns don’t give it a chance to relax. They are always all over them. Is this possible?
