Is there a secret to them keeping their bubbles? I put one in my tank and the first day he bubbled up nicely but then lost it the next day and hasn't had em since.

I've heard and read its all up to them. No rhyme or reason. I have a huge red that looked super awesome when I got him, but for months now, nothing lol. I won't buy a super expensive one because I don't want to run the risk of it not 'bubbling'.
I do bi weekly water changes, run T5s, and check my water weekly. He has moved to where he is at now, so I know he likes his position, etc etc. if someone can solve this mystery, let me know!

My clown finally hosted my GBTA and I was hoping that would change his mood but no such luck.

Well I guess I could try a few experiments with my LED's, maybe lowering the intensity for a week period and then raising them for a week period and see how this might affect the anemone. I can tell you the day i put it in my tank, it bubbled up beautifully and stayed that way for a day or two. It has never moved from the same spot and I have not changed my feeding habits or water flow pattern. It stopped bubbling and has not since. My clownfish has recently taken up residence in it (been about a week) and there has been no change in its appearance. So I can definitely attest to the presence of clowns, water flow, water patterns changing not having any affect on bubbles.

Never know with these guys. If hes' extended, he's doing fine.

When I had LEDs my anemones would never really bubble. I started a new tank with t5s and now they bubble. Everything else is pretty much the same but most of the time I'm going to say that it depends on the bubble tip. Some people say that lack of food or dirty water makes them stringy but I think that is inaccurate. There are many tanks with horrible water that have bubbly bubble tips.

I have 4 RBTA's and the only time I see them remotely getting bubble tips is when the blue lights are on but once the white lights come on then they go back to being skinner but they are growing really big.. Even the new split ones are big..
