Hello,

My cardinal fish has some bubbles under the skin for a few days. It seems they are bigger than yesterday. The fish is eating and swimming normally.

The tank is 200 gallon and 4 years old and the other fish seems unaffected. The cardinal fish is in the tank almost from the start...

There is a sump in the basement so it could be a oversaturation problem but I didn't change the plumbing for a few years and there is no microbubble... Any idea or treatment to suggest?

This looks a cyst or abscess and may have stemmed from an injury. Best treatment in a quarantine setting will be Seachem Kanaplex which is easily absorbed both internally and externally and is a broad spectrum treatment

I would expect supersaturation to show up in the eyes of the anthias first.

Bacterial abscesses can produce gas, I suspect that is what is causing the bubbles.

Thank you for your answers. I will try to find some kanaplex and setup an hospital tank. I hope I will be quick enough.

A little follow up... I couldn't find kanaplex in time and the bacterial abscesse bursted open. I t seemed I could see the belly through the hole. Surprisingly, the wound slowly healed and the fish is now healthy and the scales are normal... The cardinal fish was eating during the whole duration of the process.
