BubbleKing Skimmer Club

I got this SM250 couple months ago. It won't fit in my sump. So, I got to stay with the ATB. Gotta wait for the next upgrade soon.

Here is the SM250

That has got to suck, seeing that beast and not being able to use it....

On a side note: Im going to take the extra collection cup lid (extra because I have the sch) and make a clock out of it....

does anyone have an opinion on the BK mini180 versus the Vertex Alpha 250? right now the prices are the same and i'm in the market for a new skimmer.

Klaus has stated that the RE Bubbleking Delux are the best skimmers that RE makes. The cone thing was protyped by Klaus over 4 years ago. In all that time, the BK has remained the style it is now. So form this, I would conclude that the "Cone" skimmer is not any better, thus why he droped it 4 years ago.

Klaus is helping another company out, I think more people are going to ask the same question as you, and find out that the BK's are the way to go. Its a win win for Klaus.

I think the Vertex Alpha 250 is NOT going to be released for couple more months.
I would go with BK mini 180 or BK mini 200.

I only have a 72 gal bowfront right now but i see myself outgrowing this in a year or two and going to a 150. I'm heavily leaning to the mini 180 since it is only marginally more expensive than the mini 160. i'm just worried that i won't be able to get it into my refugium since i never saw one up close!

They are in peoples hands as of last week, and they really do a great job of pulling it out. If you have room in the sump, they are supposed to be a bit better/more efficient at pulling it out when compared to the Mini's. I have a mini 160 and love it. Quiet, very energy efficient, and consistent. If I had room to fit it (without removing dividers) I would get one of the new 200 cones

Many people suggest NOT oversizing the BK's too much, meaning 2-3x recommended volume. If they are too oversized, they cannot skim quite as consistently unless you feed a ton.
