Bubbles in sump acrylic

I just reached out to premium aquatics where I bought, and I just want to return it and go with a geo. It's unreal spending that kind of money and bashsea saying it'll never leak, I would accept micro bubbles, but this is a whole corner full of air.

That seems like the best option at this point. Guess the owner will be seeing this in his shop soon lol! At least he would if I owned Premium Aquatics along with a letter and a copy of his response to you. He might have a few other inventory items show up after inspecting the inventory items I had in stock. Oops! well there goes that Moon shot!

Hope you have a better day. As a rule of thumb inspect everything when it arrives and send anything back that is not 100% for your use.

you could try squirting acrylic solvent in the cracks and then clamp it. that is pretty bad. I make acrylic tanks and that is really bad if I had a weld like that I would scrap it and start over.

squirting additional solvent won’t do much at this point. best not to mess with it and get a refund.

I agree, Lets see if @premiumaquatics will let me return the sump. The problem is it's custom and not a standard sump bashsea offers.

that shouldn’t negate their responsibility to sell you a non-defective item. if they tell you to fill it to confirm it’s ok, tell them to pound sand. it can take around six weeks for maximum water absorption. filling it up with water for a couple days will not determine if it is built sound.

I agree with @cromag27
(I work for an acrylic company)
What was given to you is trash, I wouldn’t let that leave the warehouse with that many bubbles on a corner let alone bother polishing it. IME that job would’ve been redone, It bothers me for having one bubble on a seam. Let alone a bunch? Botched job if you ask me

They want me to send it back to bashsea so he can add sealant to that corner, I'm trying to tell them i just want to return it, but since it's custom they are giving me a hard time.

... Paypal, Credit claim?

NO WAY I would let someone like that dictate what I am going to own... You need to file a claim before its too late. The "it's used" argument doesn't work when something has to be put into use, in order to determine if its functional.

I appreciate the heads up on which company we should avoid. It's real dumb of them to treat people this way when they know you are going to post in a place that everyone will see how they treat people.

Agree with that statement...

You didn't pay 2K for an Acrylic sump that isn't molded correctly. They should at least make you a new one if they wont return it.

NO! do not accept a patch job on this. first, we don’t use sealant with acrylic. second, you didn’t pay for a brand new car that already has bondo on it.

I just had this issue with new furniture it came all scratched up and the misses was the only one home. She didn’t tell them to take it back and then they wanted to send a repair person to fix it. I mean it was bad deep chips the size of a nickel !! And I told them the same exact thing I bought new I want NEW! Not stuff from the scratch and dent store.
The following week I had new furniture

was this confirmed to be silicone?????

Even if I paid $100 for the sump, it would be going back. Good luck with this and hope it works out. That's way too much money for something that should be perfect. Also a breach is way more expensive when it happens, so offering to repair the sump after a breach is still unacceptable IMO.

I agree the issue i'm having is I bought the sump in December, and didn't fill it with water and find this issue until about 2 weeks ago. Premium aquatics only accepts returns within 30 days of invoice which is BS because it took the sump 2 weeks to get to me.

That's unfortunate, for a large ticket item, they should handle that better or have more faith in their product to extend the warranty, especially for a manufacturing defect. I really hope this works out in your favor. I will have to check out the build thread too :)

Worth sending a link to them to this thread so they can see just how the reefing community is responding to the lack of resolution to this quality issue ?
I can tell you that no one likes negative press especially when they deal in a niche product line.
Given this issue I know I will not buy a product from either of them. Not the seller nor the producer.
If a company stands behind the product and fixes the issue without question I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Even if the first delivery was flawed. Mistakes happen, correct them and stand behind your product.
