I got myself a bubbletip anenome 8 days ago at my favorite lfs. It wasn't entirely bubbled up, but I know they will bubble or not more or less at random for unknown reasons. After acclimation, I placed it and it decided it liked the spot, hardly moved an inch. Over the last week, it's been a fully extended, happy nem. Today I did a 20% water change, matching the Ph, SG and Temperature, letting it mix up overnight as I always do. I also rinsed out my filter sponge, replaced the filter floss and removed a bag of carbon. When I turned all the equipment back on, my display was full of microbubbles from the skimmer kicking back on.

Sometime during this, my nem shriveled up, which I assume means I made it unhappy somehow. I had to leave for work shortly after, so I was unable to see if it came back out or not since.

Would anything I described cause a bubbletip to behave like that?

Didn't have time to test my perameters, or grab a picture, but the ones I know.
Temp 77f
SG 1.025

I had to run home real quick to shut off my RO, and gave it a quick look. It reinflated, mostly. Tentacles (are they tentacles, what's the term for anenome arms?) were out, but long and quite skinny.

There may have been a large enough shift in another parameter (such as alk) that caused the nem to deflate. Since it started to inflate again, you should be fine.

You may have kicked up detritus during the water change that the BTA ingested, and by deflating it was able to clear itself.

Or, it was just pooping.

All normal for a BTA.

This is what it's looking like today. Still a little off to what it was.

My test kits seem to have grown legs. Or were smuggled away by cats.

To me it looks ok, just probably re-adjusting. Mine around, deflate, bubble, straighten. But your picture looks ok to me. just my 2 cents

Sometimes they just randomly inflate and deflate to adjust to PH and salinity after a water change, I’d give it sometime

I’ve seen mine do it because either i adjusted the lights or it moved around

honestly at this point i just let it do it’s thing and try not to get upset when it deflates
