I figured this was about the last nice weekend we could expect around here so I've spent the weekend outside doing things that have stacked up all summer. Without boring you with all of that..we'll fast forward to this evening. I will be unhooking the outside hoses for the winter soon...so I deemed it "Bucket Cleaning Evening". I started collecting my 5g buckets to wash them down. I collected...and collected...and collected. I felt like I was washing buckets for hours. I have to admit that some were pretty gross too! Who knows what all decomposed in some of them. I'm surprised that my basement didn't smell worse than it does. Some were even outside because they had started to stink! :squigglemouth: I started to feel like I had a real bucket problem. Now that I think about it, everytime I go to HD or Lowes, I can't resist buying at least one. Once cleaned, I started counting. After counting the clean ones, I counted the ones that were in use or didn't need cleaned. In total, I've amassed 22 5g buckets. Some HD Orange...some Lowes Blue...and others a random mix of old salt and misc.

I'm not ashamed of my problem at all...as I'm sure there are plenty of others out there just like me. I have an issue..I can admit it. If I ever buy or borrow something from you and exclaim that "I'll bring the bucket back soon...I have plenty", I'm lying..you'll never see it again. If you need a bucket...too bad, I need them more...I think? Good news is that $2-$3 will buy you a brand new one.

So how many of those buckets have you collected?

I stopped buying salt by the bucket and only buy it in the 200 gallon box now.
A couple years ago I gave a friend 25 buckets with lids.
I currently have about 15

I once nearly assaulted a relative when asking if they could have a bucket or two! Don't touch my buckets!

I have exactly 6 for water changes, 2 for random household cleaning, 1 to hold unused cat litter, 1 to hold random stuff in the basement closet, then I have 3 outdoor/garage buckets that hold random wood shavings, 2x4's, and crushed rock. I think I have 2-3 other buckets in the basement that hold used sand and probably rotting/stinking stuff.

I hear you.

I have two plus one 1gal that I donated to hubby when he had to clean the car. I will be expanding my collection soon. I need to move my tank and will need at least one more for water change water while I have the rock and livestock in two of them.

I think I have maybe 5 5g buckets. One is being used for holding RO drinking water, salt, removed saltwater from tank, holding old sand, and one to carry mixed saltwater from basement to the tank for water changes.
