Previously, I have spent most of my time on another forum. Seen a facebook thread on Trido's tank of the month, viewed it here and noticed the people responding were people I have come to to have much respect for. so I am hoping to expand my knowledge here and really take it to the next level!

have been fish keeping since 2000. dove in head first with lots of research and adivice into sps/lps tank in 2011 and had great success in a 120g with 50 macro fuge and 40g sump. 2x250mh,4x110w vho, apex, mp40's etc. also had a 65g softy. Untill......had a 11inch, long tentacle plate go rtn overnight. Although I did an imediate 50g water change along with fresh carbon in a brs reactor, I under estimated its potential to poison the tank and waited a week taking more action with many water and carbon changes. in the end most corals responed and the next to go was a 9 inch colonly of hydno and 4x5 inch cali tort...even pulsing zenia in the fuge was melting. I actualy use my test kits and had was dosing via dosing pumps (ca 450,alk9,mg 1300's). that 50g fuge kept my nitrates and phosphates undetecable via elos nitrate and hanna checker p04. all values were good the day of the plate going rtn, but a week later....not so good, lol.

while this was happening I was in the middle of a 300g dt build with garage sump system which currently has had coral for about 6 months and seems to be on track. Am waiting for tank to mature and for me get a read on it to really stock it but had some large dunkins, frogspawn, cali tort and hydo ( just love them) 12 inch purple/green scroll, yellow scroll, red planet etc.etc nothing too special.

current system.
300dd
450lbs LR
1 inch sand bed, front only
2x120 sumps. with macro fuge
iwaki md100rlt return
baracuda with oceans motions 4way
sro5000ext skimmer
swc extreme cone 250 skimmer with 2 sicce psk1000's
4x18w uv
2x800w finnex heaters
1/3hp artica chiller
diy 216 cree LED on 9 drivers controlled via apex
apex with ph,cond,temp,orp
3xbrs dosing pumps
sro5000 ca reactor not in use untill really needed.
2 reg and 1Lg brs reactors inline with return not in use. for emergnecy carbon/gfo
8 stage rodi ( 3 di resin stages)

current intrest in coral feeding and what make corals thrive.
considering crytptic zones/dsb's.
also considering.....why do I shocked when I bump up against the aluminum frame of my diy led's when I'm working on my tank. a little humor there...but yeh NOT funny!

Welcome to reef2reef. Was fun watching your build on the other site. Hope you'll post it up on here as well

Hey Kevin, nice to have you aboard here. Quite a few of us Washingtonian's on this Forum.

Cheers, Todd

Sorry I am so slow to make it to this forum. Dare I say I am here out of frustration and wanting to find more meanifull input???

You definitely found the right Forum Kevin, so much so that the front page changes every 15 minutes not hours or days....lol

Need to persuade Peppie to join in as well, he'd most definitely be impressed with the DIY section here. Also maybe you can hitch a ride up North with him for a visit.

Hey there Todd, I have been here in the past. over a year ago. I had to reregister for the fact of a different e-mail. Sorry I wont be able to come the the North Sound get together. I will be 30' under the Pudget Sound that day getting a Dive certification. I will miss the good company this get together provides.
