Figured Id show off my budget minded tank. Im a single mother of a one year old little girl and a server in a chain restaurant, so I have very little money to spend on myself. But when I have an extra bit of cash, I put it into my tank. Im a recovering alcoholic, so my tank is my little bit of peace and order in my life...LOL. It keeps me busy in my free time. I seriously watch my tank more than I watch television..LOL. Its my first video, and I'm sick from the flu shot, so bear with me. Hope you enjoy.

Very nice looking tank;)

I used to use that Coralife skimmer on my biocube, once you get it tweaked it'll pull out some gunk. It's no Tunze but it's better than nothing. You'll want to have a few spare airstones on hand, they get pretty gunked up after a while.

Nice video and that Ora Birdsnest has great color! I'm pretty sure The algae you're pointing out is just coraline algae that will turn purple in time.
Thanks! I really hope so about the algae. .LOL. It hurts my soul to look at that green.. The poor birds nest is coming along. But he is getting some great color back! The video doesn't do him justice! Totally neon! Im thinking he is going to be just fine in my tank, yay! If only my bulls-in-a-china-shop snails would quit knocking him over.. Grrr. But thanks for the positivity on the birds nest and green algae... I needed that boost! :)

Looks great! Can't wait to see this tank as it matures. And amazing deals you're getting. Wish I could get those here where I'm at.

Im ordering some more airstones after I see how I like these.. I've read some reviews of people switching to a different kind that ends up working better, so we shall see... Ahhhh... I can see the mail truck in the neighborhood... Yay, my skimmer is here!

You are right about the deals! This is why my tank is so heavily stocked so soon, hard to pass deals like that up, ya know? My fish guy is awesome! He lives an hour away, so I buy stuff from him online then make a trip every few weeks to collect my goodies... Im looking at getting a RO unit soon. .. Tired of stressing out on running low on water...

lol. the RO unit is very nice to have in house, no carrying buckets back and forth to the store for clean water.

Good luck on your build. I'm also running a 10gallon. ~7 Frags, 1 colony, 3 fish (there would be more but I had some losses in he learning process).

Hi. I love your little reef. What substrate are you using?
Hi, thank you. I initially had a fine live sand, but my powerheads were blowing the fine sand all over... So I added a bit of crushed coral on top, just to keep the sand pinned down. It was a last ditch effort but it worked. LOL.

Glad the crushed coral worked out for you. Thanks for sharing that with me.

Got my skimmer set up... Different from what Im used to, but seems ok, for the money and the size tank I have. Only time will tell if I made the right move with this...

Awesome! Looking good so far. I love to see more budget minded tanks.

Wait till I post a build about the refugium I'm making out of a 5 gallon bucket :D! (I have some time off next week and I've emptied my first 5 gallon bucket of salt so it's project time!)
