Whats everyome using as a frag tank these days? Does anyone know whats going on with the zoo med low boys? I was thinking about using like a utility sink would the plastic and or fiberglass material be ok with ths lights we use?

I was thinking similar. Maybe I’ll DIY an acrylic one. The JBJ looked cool but it’s discontinued.

All I would say is don’t scrimp too much. I paid the price for trying to do something I could not really afford at the time. To get any real use from a frag tank you need ultimate stability.

If you dont mind me asking what did you use?

I used a custom tank that I thought using a canister filter would cope with which it didn't, then moved to an overflow box which worked while the lifter pump worked... Honestly, it was just disaster after disaster so I can only recommend you plan things to perfection and buy the best of what you can afford. This is purely from my experience however. I have had tank crashes in the past but my frag tank was the hardest to recover from.

Another option I goumd was the 50 gallon rubber maid stock tank. That is like 48x24x12 pr somethimg lile that.
Only issue with a tank you can't see from the sides is not being able to view your frags correctly and see possible issues before it is too late. If you get some time Than at Tidal Gardens has some great videos on why he moved from all Rubbermaid tanks to glass ones in his new facility.

Yea and that is a down fall. I would love a tank the size of a 40 breeder juat half the height.

I’m think something like that. 40 breeder size maybe 10” high. I’m fairly capable with diy stuff. Thinking a 20 gal tank as a sump would be easy and add to the stability.

I'm definitely a fan of the "half tank" idea. In fact I cut a 10 gallon tank in half (glass tank, used glass scorer and blowtorch) as an experiment. Also had my local store make me a "half" 15 gallon I haven't set up yet. Anyway, check out the link I posted above, think they are great options.

Also the same company make terrariums that are really short, but they come with a lid system sand I don't know how safe the parts would be next to saltwater. . .

I plan on getting the zoo med and drilling it for an overflow
Yea, i want that one, but i cant not find it any where locally, or where they will ship. I was just checking his price to see how much they were.
