I'm a relatively new Floridian who experienced his first full tank crash due to over a week without power during/after Hurricane Irma. I guess in a way I'm lucky to have had only one crash at this point. I absolutely will be purchasing a generator before next hurricane season and am looking for recommendations.

Honda 2000 is great. Clean power so it won’t ruin your equipment. It isn’t cheap but is super quiet and will run 8 hrs on a gallon and a half of gas. I ran a 6500 Briggs and Stratton after irma and kept the tanks alive and my fridge and freezer cold for a week. Could also run a small window shaker at night to sleep. But the noise starts to work on your sanity after a couple days.
I ended up getting the Honda 3000i just after the storm because a 2000 wouldn’t run 3 tanks with the fridge and fans. It is super quiet. Very economical on gas. You will save in the long run.

I just bought a harbor freight brand 8750 watt generator and after my 20 year old generac generator started having problems.
If I had the money I would have gone with a honda but the harbor freight generator was $599 and the honda is $3999.
