Not the Buffalo we eat for burgers, but this buffalo:
It is a freshwater fish that is quite abundant here in the Mississippi; but I'm told is a challenge to catch. Anyway, went into a fresh fish market and they were selling Buffalo Roe. It was fairly cheap, but I had to buy a whole pound. Now I know it is a fresh water fish, but still roe is roe, and so I fed my fish just a little to see what would happen. Total Mayhem! Way better feeding response that capelin roe and masago. The roe is a little larger than capelin, but not as big as salmon and it is quite buoyant. So since I know have a pound of it in my freezer, I will probably feed it regularly and cut out the capelin roe.
thoughts?
