Buffering wavemaker flow

I have one the the jabeo wave makers (the gyre style) and I'd like to see about buffering the flow. On the lowest setting it's still to high for what I want to do with my tank now. I hate to have to buy new wave makers. I was hoping to find like a foam sleeve or something that could be put around it to disperse the flow and make it more gentle or something. Any ideas greatly appreciate.

I think the word I meant to use is diffuse.
