So today I found a giant pincher bug (earwig) dead inside my sump next to the bio media. Anyone else have experience with critters making their way into the aquarium and is this something that could be harmful?

I am sure it will not be an issue. Occasional I find a spider or fly.

I wouldn't worry about one bug, it's just going to decompose like any other organic. We once had a hornet infestation, I found the whole in the foundation of our house so I cleverly waited till nightfall sprayed wasp/hornet spray in the hole the sealed it with installation foam. There was another hole on the inside of our foundation all the hornets went kamakazee in my sump and took most my tank out with it. Many water changes and months later I was still finding parts of the hornets in my system.

Yes- Not frequent but have had it occasionally. Its the warmth and humidity that attracts them as well as the light over sump

The crickets my son feeds his bearded dragon sometimes make it into my other son's tank. Hasn't been a real issue yet.
