I have shot a lot of silicone and never found a need for a powered gun. Silicone usually pumps with little pressure.

Those are more for thick mastics or butyl.

But who am I to judge someone’s tool purchases. I have bought more tools than I can even keep track of. You should let us know if it actually is easier with the powered gun. Maybe I’ll have an excuse to buy one.
I did my shower with it.

It made quick work but it does take some skill to balance it.

@bruno3047,
I got the m18 version because I have the batteries already. I think if I was to do it over I would get the m12 version. It’s cheaper too.

Nice job.

In the past, I’ve used momentive rtv100. It’s sold as an adhesive. Rtv is some strong stuff. I’ve never tried ASI but it sounds very similar. And while $12 a tube is on the pricey side, I’ll never go cheap on adhesive as it’s what’s keeping that big glass box together for a long time. That’s worth $12. Or $24, depending on how crazy you get!

RTV108 is a great choice. It what I use for all my DIY aquarium seals. As for the powered caulking gun I would say its the best investment I have ever made. I have the Ryobi battery powered caulking gun and it will empty a standard tube in 30 seconds at full speed. When I install a large glass panel being able to put down the RTV quickly is a must. RTV108 has a 10 minute skin time so the entire sheet needs to be installed quickly and when it requires several tubes there is no time to waste.

That’s some good info. Thanks for sharing. I’ll look into the 108. I’m putting together a 100 gallon in a couple of weeks so I need to get shopping.
