That's a Peppermint Shrimp in the pictures... so yeah they will kill Aptasia.

A couple things... did you get rid of the Aptasia? I wouldn't have added the BTA until you did.

I had two Peppermint Shrimp in my tank when I started, figuring that if I did ever get any Aptasia, they would take care of it. One of them is a model citizen, the other one killed and ate several Nessarius Snails, and attacked my Hammer Coral as soon as I put it in. It attacked it a few times before I was able to remove him. The Hammer Coral luckily got through it, and has grown quite large.

Point is, some Peppermint Shrimp just aren't reef safe, and some do just fine. It looks like yours is an assassin. I would remove it.
He said cleaner shrimp
Just going off what he said cause all I see is a net

Agreed Spartacus,

The denizen pep shrimp is now moved into the refugium. We'll see.

The new bubble tip was completely inflated last night. Seems happy.

Yeah. Couldn't believe how fast that shrimp went after the new anemone. Hadn't left his rock for a month , then .....

Yes. They are peppermint shrimp and all
Aptasia are cleared.

Can anyone help with advice on this coral ?

It's more closed

than it had been in quite a while and it has a gaping mouth.

Unhealthy ?

Do I need to feed it ?

What is best method t feed coral to health and proliferation ??

I've added 5-6 small frags recently. I have 2 clowns and 3 cardinals that I feed hikari brine. Krill. Misys.

Thank you for input !!

Do I put the gfo-carbon pump in the section where the skimmer is? or in the final section on left which is where the outflow to external pump is.

It makes sense to me to put gfo pump in final section and pump back to first -- that way less chance of junk fouling the pump. There is a filter sock behin skimmer.

There is chaeto in refugium and I hope to grow corals in refugium section or final outflow section

Hey thanks!

Any idea if this is bad growing on a snail ?

I'm in the adding coral phase!!! Pretty exciting !

Vermetids on the snails, snap off or a dab of super glue gel.

The unknown coral in post #84 could be either Favia, Micromussa, got to tell ya that image you posted is whacky, makes my head hurt. ;Bored It's an LPS I am pretty sure but really need another image for conformation. :D

Any advice on how to quiet an external pump ?

I built this stand .......

There's a low hum that's almost a rattle. Pump works great. I opened it to see if it had anything built up inside,.....no.

Is it mounted directly to the wood or is there some sort of rubber between the 2?

Looks like the output is hard plumbed? id get some hose on the output before pvc pipe and put a carpet patch under that stand. some form of rubber pad etc between pump and stand also

I have a rubber pad. And bushings underneath. Will add carpet etc. but it's a vibration up the line so I need to put some hose in. What hose is Rec for a pressured line ?

Foxface rabbit fish will usually eat bubble algae but there is a chance they might pick at corals. And they are venemous. I would also try more emerald crabs.

Thank you Leahfiish. I’ll look into that! I do have three em crabs. One larger. Two small. They only seem to pick at rocks. And sometimes inside ! Coral after I feed.

But no trauma to coral so I didn’t sump them.

Hard to tell with the picture, but it looks like it may be an amphipod, which are good.

Regarding your algae, I second the idea of a Foxface, with the knowledge that some do tend to eat Corals, particularly, it seems, zoanthids. That being said I have had my Magnificant Foxface for 6 months with zero sign of him going after any of my Corals, including my zoanthids. Each individual fish is so different.

I’m sure it’s frustrating that you have three emerald crabs and none of them eat your bubble algae. :(
