Just wondering if there are ways to remover, if not all, most of the equipment that we typically see hanging on the sides of aquariums? I know you can do away with powerheads with at closed loop system, but most of the tanks I see with that setup have PVC pipes hanging down in them. I also know that your heaters and thermostats can be placed in the sump, but what else can we remove from the actual DT viewing area and what absolutely has to stay in there?

If your not doing a CL. Powerheads, returns, and overflow box is the only thing left that has to be in the tank. Everything else can be put in the sump.

+1, only equipment in my display is the overflow, return pipe, and 2 powerheads.. (Ecotech MP10's, theyre pretty low profile)
