Hi.

I'll build me a new sump for my 70G/270ltr cube tank, because i'm not so happy with my sump that's come with my scubacube.
It started with the skimmer.
The best place for it is in the firts section where the water floates in. Because my Coral Box skimmer is to big to put him in the second section.
The max size of the sump is 55cm x 54cm.
So, how lookes the ideal sump, can you show me some picrures of yours
Thanks.

This is the ideal sump........

.........For us.....:)

Your ideal sump will look nothing like ours.
I think first you have to decide what you need from your sump. If you have decided what skimmer you will be using then that will decide the size chamber you need. From there what else do you want to run in the sump? Need room for a fuge? Internal reactors? DSB? all these things will add up to your ideal sump :)

Hi,

I want to use the skimmer i have now, it's only 1 month in use.
I will filter with filter socks and lava rocks and i'm using a reactor with rowaphos. Don't need room for algea.
So, i think first the water inlet, filter socks, rocks, skimmer and reactor with pump?

My ideal sump is a bare, glass tank.

I hate baffles and most of the other add-ons that ultimately seem to do little other than restict what you can do in your sump.

First, moderate flow (around two to four time your display's volume per hour in actual turnover) eliminates most of the need for sump add-ons.

I set up a home-brew PVC bubble stopper that rests on the bottom of the sump and takes all the drain flow. The return pump sits kind of neatly under part of the bubble stopper.

This leaves more than 2/3 of the sump open for me to place skimmers, heaters, spare rock, etc wherever I want to, and changes are never a problem. :)

It's also dead-silent and bubble-free. :) :)
