So I’ve been thinking about adding a refugium to my tank... not sure how to start it tho. From what I’ve seen online is buy one of those IM media baskets fill the top with some type of sponge filter thing middle with cheato then under that another sponge filter thing

Then can I add Copapods(?) to the cheato then let them thrive and make their way to the tank? Would love my fish to have some live food.

From left to right

Chamber 1
Filter sock

Chamber 2
Heater

Chamber 3
Return pump/ATO

Chamber 4
Bag of Seachem Matrix

Chamber 5
Filter sock

Was thinking of removing my filter sock from chamber 5, put the media basket with the cheato. Unless there’s a better way to make it, seen tons of methods online but what has work the best for the AIO club o_O

Would love too but currently at college, won’t be home till 11pm EST
Dont worry. You will have something by the time you get back. I downloaded a pic from the user manual. I will send a pic with how mine AIO refugium setup is.

Awesome thanks, does it have copapods?

Here is what I have in my JBJ. Ping me if you have any other questions and I can send pics. The rear compartment is very similar to mine and I am able to pack all this in my AIO.

Wow this is detailed might have to copy this... Really don't like these dang filter socks. Seems the way to go is the media basket

Hmm not sure how I'll connect that tho, everything I've seen online has been using the media basket method

The CPR comes with a pump. It’s a simple HOB and sits on the back wall. There are pros and cons. As long as you have space behind the aquarium you can make it work. I haven’t see AIO with CPR. May be due to weight of the HoB.

I like your method a bit more.

Great time to drop more money into a new filter system

My Skimmer is a Aquamaxx 1.5HoB that i dont have shown here. But if you can handle a skimmer as well with the setup. then yeah go ahead. But check out CPR as well before you do it.

I actually want the one from IM, they fit snuggly into one of the Chambers

Possible to get an actual photo of your setup?

Id also check out ReefBuilders video on Elite Reef. They have Nano setups with HOB Fuge. Good reference.

Alright will do. Do you notice copapods in your actual tank?
Yes, it took 2 tries. I do see them. But the more you add and provide a stable environment, the better population you will have. I say let your chaeto thrive, then add pods.
