So, Does anyone have any links to How to build a nice looking stand? I am in process to building a stand for my tank but want to get a few ideas. I want to see some different designs. If you guys know of a video or pictures to how you or someone you know built theres, post it here for me. I greatly appreciate it. :D

I believe your choices are plywood (preferred ¾ inch ply) OR dimensional lumber with some “skin.”

Here is the acceptable dimensional plan. Note that if it is a four foot tank or less, all boards can be 2 x 4’s. If it is greater than four feet, the top frame needs to be 2x6’s, with the remaining wood 2x4’s. With this plan, you can skin this with whatever floats your boat.

Cool! That seems to be the going common. I've seen a few different skins too. I've seen a few I like. Thank You for sharing!

This is the stand I build for my 220 build that I am doing.

Sweet! Thank You!

You have no idea how much this is helping me get some good ideas!

I just saw your post about that. I've checked him out too! Very nice stand build. I've watched quite a few on youtube! Just trying to get some good ideas. Thank You!

Looks nice, great job and really like the DA Controller window. What are your plans for finishing Stain? Paint?

Cheers, Todd

I am going to be painting it. My wife only gave me permission to do this if the stand was painted to match my current stand. Which is Dark Brown. LOL. . . Happy Wife, Happy Life! Right?

Nobody threw out a welded steel stand? Shame, shame...... I good number of my tanks go on my steel stands. I have a slick way to attach wood skins without penetrating the steel tubing, and compromising the powder coated finish. Check it out, J

I used this same design for the stand I am currently building, I went to lowes with all the measurements and got them to make all the cuts for the frame and then when it came time for the skin I measured it out and went back to lowes and got them to cut the skinning as well, saved me a lot of time.

I am still finishing up the stand but here are a couple quick pics of the framing and some with the skinning started, I used the top piece as a test to see if I could get the high gloss finish I was looking for.
