Lately I have been things about changing my current filtration system which are 2x FX5 (which only have my chemical media) into a double 40 gal breeder sump (having two 40 gal tanks alongside each other to create a bigger refugium). Anyone have thoughts or lay outs about this type project.

The refugium is on the right and the sump is on the left. Sump will have my skimmer and return pump. Water comes down from my overflow and will flow into both tanks. The water in the fuge then flows into the sump through a hole in the side that will have a bulkhead and a 90 degree PVC pipe. Water than flows up my return and back into tank.

^ that's the refugium. Will have deep sand bed with live rock rubble and algae.

That is the sump. Two baffles

I am following along. I'm really interested in seeing what route you end up taking. :)

Awesome. Like the two tank set up with 20 gal high. After two weeks of research and looking for some more ideas n plans on how to set it up. So far nothing, but I do have a rough lay out in paper on how I'm going to do this. I will put it up later on this week.
