I have a 120 gallon that's 48 x 24 x 25 with 2 overflows and I wanted to build a custom stand for it. I want to have as much access to under the stand as possible for my sump. Ideally a large, single door that opens in the front and a smaller door that opens on one side. The other side and the back will be up against a wall.

Has anyone built a stand before that can share some tips, pics, or plans on the wood I'll need?

I have about the same setup and i used two kitchen cabinets mounted together.

You can check out my build thread here. I got my basic design from Joey, who has the "King of DIY" YouTube Channel. He has some excellent instructional videos. Even though my sump is one floor down from my display tank, I maximized the space under my DT. I also made all three of my finished cabinet "walls" on the stand removable. They are held on with catch brackets and magnets so I can get easy and full access to my plumbing if needed.

Use high quality 3/4" plywood only. no 2xs! I would recommend at least two doors on the front with heavy duty, marine grade hinges.

2x4s are for those who like to sacrifice floor space, and don't know how to cut plywood properly. :)

They can work but you still need straight, even cuts. and I would recommend using planer and joiner.

Google " rocket engineer aquarium stand", that's what I used.

Used a miter saw, circular saw, wood glue, screws and trim nails. 2x4's and 1/4" plywood.

I've built many stands similar to this design since 1993.

Funny cromag, I seem to have no problems cutting plywood. Lol (Former union trim carpenter)
