Also i the my basement should be able to handle the weight its either 8 or 10 inch concrete pad
Rebar reinforced ? The glass is going to be another ton on top of that. 7000 pounds before rocks is heavy! I would consult a structural engineer about the concrete pad that really may not be enough as crazy as it seems lol.

Just to give a little perspective....

That's 7800lbs roughly. Your tank when finished will weigh more than an F250 4x4 diesel truck.

So i was going with an 1 1/2 that should be plenty thick its 96x48x36

Plenty thick. The usual 500g is generally made with dimensions being 96 x 49 1/2 x 24 1/2 Tall ( 3/4 glass ) but can be altered with your given dimensions of 96x48x36

Are you going to buy sheets cut to spec?

Low iron on any sides for a planned industrial size such as this one?

It would be an epic build for sure.

Build a 1/4 inch angle iron Steele brace for top and bottom to run around edges have it powder coated black it’s way stronger then anything eurobrace can touch remebereuro brace is only as strong as the silicone which isn’t much that’s why planet aquariums and all them use a metal brace around there tanks

This probably should be in the DYI forum, you would get more replies. There are pretty many people that use that forum that could help.
This is a sponsor forum..

Your stand design will determine the pounds per square inch to the floor. That said you can limit the static load on the floor by having many contact points on the floor....spread the load is what you want to do. Hope that helps. A proper stand design should prevent any problems with your current floor.

I would use acrylic due to the kids. It is about 7 times stronger than glass of the same thickness.

There is an aquarium thickness calculator on line for glass tanks. You can just Google it and it pops up.
