My 220 reef tank is up and I’m ready to add fish (as soon as the gyres are in from backorder). I’m trying to decide what fish I want and wanted some opinions on what to add.

List so far:

2 x clownfish mated pair
2 x goby mated pair (yasha?)
2 x cardinal (Banggai?)
1 x longnose hawkfish
2 x firefish
1 x lawnmower blenny
1 x yellow tang
1 x blue/regal tang

I’d like to choose the right fish to fill out the rest of my list. I want to do this the best way, having a list so they can be added in the proper order. Need reef safe fish for this mixed reef tank.

TANGS! Lots of them! Can you tell I love tangs? ;) And no tank is complete without a Wrasse for pest control. My fave is the six line. Also some sort of dottyback... sunrise is a good choice. I would throw in a Pygmy angel. I love mine. A few Blennies maybe. So many choices, so much water to fill!

Blennies will be added, lawnmower will be one and yes I want a few tangs. Yellow, hippo/regal, not sure after those two. Wrasses agave interested me in the past. Will be sure and include a few of them. There are some really beautiful wrasses!

I would choose a powder blue or brown tang and some zebrasoma species. Purple maybe. Also get some sort of bristletooth tang... tomini or white tail. Also check out these striped blennies... they’re really cool.

Wrasses and anthias. I have a 220 as well. Current stock is 2 clowns, yellow eye kole tang, melanarus wrasse, Lubbock's wrasse, McCosker flasher wrasse, yellow fin flasher wrasse, 5 female lyre tail anthias, 1 male lyre tail anthias, potter's angel fish, royal gramma, yellow watchman goby, tail spot blenny, and I think I'm down to 1 zebra bar goby. Still plenty of room for about 10 more fish unless I go big. It's why I've largely stayed away from tang's.

With a 220 you have many options. I've opted for more, but smaller, fish like wrasses. If I can get those last 10 fish to be all wrasses I will lol! Colorful, active, and if you pick correctly, peaceful.
