Looking to make a large quantity purchase to fill my tank. Does anyone have a good lead to on where to purchase online?

Why rush and "fill up your tank". Take your time, dip them correctly, place them on new plugs etc, do it properly and you'll have far more success.

No successful tank was built overnight, nothing good happens quickly.

I beg you, don't do that.
10 pieces max at a time. The risk is far too great, just adjusting the alk uptake alone is a nightmare on larger orders
Not at all. Alk consumption is only once they start growing. The op won’t see anything for weeks/months as far as a massive alk consumption rate...

Well, it can depend on the types of corals you want. I would not want to buy $1000 worth of corals and not have sufficient minerals in the water or correct tank set up. However, if you tank is mature and you want to buy 20 mushrooms, you should be fine. I would caution to buy tons of sps or lps as the uptake of ca and mg will be high. EDIT as they grow!

The whole nothing happens fast in this hobby only really relates to water parameter changes.

Granted, I just put in over 20 corals into my system at once. It is a very mature system and the corals were rather small. So, you can do large amounts, just make sure to get good vendor with healthy stock and keep your parameters stable.
What kinds are you looking for? SPS, LPS, Sofites, NPS?

I once bought about 15 corals and 3 fish at the same time.
The stress of acclimating, dipping, deplugging, placing them etc etc was horrid. Same for the fish, using fast QT liquids (can't remember the name of the stuff).

If it's a brand new tank, which seemingly it is, I guess they're not dosing right now. Overnight the dosing requirement on a big order is dramatic. One time my alk uptake doubled from a single order.

People want that insta tank, and nothing good happens quick.

I get that. I have a special qt system set up for corals. If I was putting in my main tank, I would take it slower too. However, with experience comes a bit more calmness. Wait, maybe with age comes calmness, or maybe, what were we talking about?

Seriously, it can be done, but for me to give any recommendations, I need to know what types of corals we are talking about.

That’s was your experience and alk consumption is t immediate lol. Man, where do you ppl get your info from??? Lol The hobby has been around for decades and this is well know information if you actually did research beyond the millennial scapegoat of blame it on something other then oneself...

I totally agree. The tank has been up for 9 month and I have run a a few test frags in there. Tired of paying shipping on one frag at a time. I think it falls under the slow build. I am very aware that the alk will swing and have the time and energy to keep an eye out and slowly adjust to it.

Tanks been up and running since march. Parameters are stable now and have all the dosing setup and ready to go. I would like to get a couple tester sps, ups, softies

If you want a few that are easier on the sps, I would suggest either a birdsnest, porites, stylophora. LPS tester is harder as I am not sure if you like the huge polyp colony (scoly, trachy) or the smaller like favia/platy, or maybe the bubbly like frogspawn or hammer.
Softies are also a big category. Leathers types? mushrooms? zoanthids?

Sorry to be such a pain, but sometimes narrowing it down will give us a better place to recommend. For instance, sps and lps are great from some places and zoas good from others, while leathers from others. :)

Get you a small battlebox from Battlecorals and ask for nice, but easy corals. He should be able to hook you up with stuff like Rainbows in Spain, Ultimate Stag, etc. that you will be happy to have in your tank down the road, but also are not super hard.

Otherwise, find some hobbyists to buy a pack from like therman. You will usually get the best deals from these types of folks.

You can do this a few more times later when this stuff thrives.

Small increments, please.

Who‘s blaming anything on anything?
Is ‘82 a millennial? Who cares.

A year ago my tank had one acro frag and plenty of coralline algae, and was consuming 4ml of Triton each day. I added 15 corals in one go, the next day my consumption had doubled and I was dosing 8ml, within a week it was up to 10ml, within a couple of weeks it was up to 12ml.

This happened, this was my experience.
In the first couple of days I was testing Alk twice a day and adjusting dosing, then every day after this.
My point is that, when you have a large amount of corals in one go, you need to be prepared to deal with them appropriately, or they will die.

Go back and read your message above, and you decide how you sounded.
