Bulk reef 150gpd add on ro membrane

So bulk reef sells an extra 75gpd to add to your ro system and claims to get you 150gpd of good water? I saw a while back someone posted this isnt correct and not how its supposed to be used? I have 1 of these ad ons and yes i do get alot of water in 1 day i am also going through di resin realitivly fast. The membranes seem to work well for the first few months then go down hill fast. I do run a booster pump to keep my psi above 60. My tds into my ro is 105 and b4 the resin its 54. My membrane are about a yr old and are due to be changed. But what am i missing? Im also using a 75gpd restrictor not a 150. Any help would be great thanks

BRS has a video were they had actually gain upwards of 125 gpd using they value plus by boosting the pressure to 90psi. The system states it can handle up to 150psi. You should also be getting much better rejection of TDS, especially with a booster pump (upwards of 98%) I would say definately change your membranes and see how much that solves. You will also save your di resin.

Dual membranes will increase the GPD but they are not intended as a water saving solution. When you send the concentrated brine from one membrane into another t is even more important that you keep the waste ratio up if you expect the membranes to last any length of time.

Yet it does in fact save significantly total water usage.

Maybe for a short time. Talk to any of the vendors who gave been doing membrane treatment as their primary source of business for decades, not a single one will agree with you. If it were really that easy all the major players would have been doing this 25 years ago. It doesn't work like that.

I disagree and there isn't the evidence to support your claim.

I'll let folks make up there own mind if they want to save money or not.

I've been using it with success for years, I have not had a single RO membrane fail on me and my gpd vs waste water remains constant. For anyone that has to pay a lot for tap water this will save significantly in the long run.

You are quoting newcomers to the industry with limited knowledge and experience. Neither has been around long enough to really know how long they will last. My current membrane is older than both those vendors and still producing water at 99+% rejection rate from a tap TDS exceeding 550.
Love BRS chemicals but their RO is questionable at best. Maybe in 30 years they will get it figured out.

Wow that only like a 50% rejection rate, I bet you are eating through some resin! Id take @AZDesertRat advice. Kick the add on, get a good quality 99% rejection membrane and you should see the resin (and membranes) lasting longer which = cheaper water. Do you really need 150gpd? And how are you testing the TDS?

If I had to replace both membranes every two years, mine have lasted longer, I would still save significant money with the water saver unit.
