Bulk Reef supply prices

Bottom Line

SWA is cheaper right now for the same salt mix BRS has. Sometimes its up to us (the consumer) to shop accordingly for the best deal, just not assume that the biggest online store will always have the best deals or best interest in the consumer.

Not bashing BRS as they are a great company, but have prices really gone up this much? I’ve been doing this for 13 years and haven’t seen salt this expensive…

And I would cancel your order and get it from SWA!

BRS is last on my list for suppliers as their prices are high and they also charge tax. They have also on more than one occasion have a sale price and then the day later the sales price is $10 more.

They do not charge sales tax. They collect sales tax on behalf of the state.

I paid $55 for 200 gallon box of Instant Ocean salt mix through Chewy, and supplement its deficiencies. Ordered it on Wednesday and had it by Friday.

I don't care what it's labeled it comes out of my pocket when I buy from them. A 10% sale is almost useless because of this.

I don't live in their state nor do they have a retail outlet in my state.

Yes it comes out of your pocket but be mad at the state not BRS for sales tax.

I'm not mad at anyone, just stating like I said earlier..........their prices are high and they charge sales tax. It's a fact and Im suggesting people do some searching and save themselves some $.

States can collect now even if the business is not from your state. Even eBay collects sales tax now in certain states.

Yes everthing is up!
I used ESV salt for 5 years and just went back to IO.
While ESV is great it cost $70 per 100 gal. I got 2 buckets of IO for $75 which is 320 g's.
My systems do not know the difference.
Even though I can afford the ESV I just could not see paying for it.
Ans since everything else is going up I can buy more with the salt savings, lol

I would have no problem using IO if it didn’t leave my mixing tanks so nasty. That brown crud is such a pain to clean out of everything. When I used to mix in a brute it wasn’t a big deal and barely noticed it but now i have 100 gallon storage vessel with some automation you can really see what it does. I use tropic marin now and the days of dreading the cleaning are gone. It does cost a little more per year but is worth it to me not having so much maintenance on equipment. It may offset with equipment life, that part I am unsure of.
As far as everyone complaining about someone’s prices, I have never married one store over another. I always shop around for just about anything I purchase online to find the best prices/service. We live in a world that makes that very easy to do. If everyone starts buying from someone else the other business will adjust their prices or disappear with the dinosaurs.
