I ordered some black mur-lok style fittings and noticed there is a tiny metal collar inside to hold the tubing. Will this ever be an issue with 2-part, kalk or other dosing additives?

They do make totally plastic ones. I would just keep and eye on it. There shouldn't be any problem as long as it does not make contact with water.
The metal piece in this type of fitting is to grip the outside of the line. I have been using this type of fitting for 30 years at work. :)

Sounds good. I just inserted some tubing into the fittings and it gripped well and pushed all the way past the metal collar. Since these wont be submerged I should be ok.

My bet is stainless. I would bet the guys at Bulk Reef Supply would know as they use those fittings. They have a forum in the sponsor section.

Generally not stainless. Just a piece of metal. We have them in all plastic and chromed finishes.
