So the struggle continues...I purchased a used tank. I leak tested the tank. I have everything installed and ready to cycle. When I put the last few gallons of water in that went into the overflow my bulkhead had a slow leak. I must have bumped it after the leak test. I have ordered new bulkheads to replace them, better to be safe and fix now then have it leak again in a few weeks, months or whatever. The main display has the dry rock, live sand, heater (temporary placement, it will be in the sump) and 2 power heads. Can I start my cycle without running the sump and skimmer? I want to get the ball rolling. I don’t see why I would not be able to, just wanted to get opinions from some more experienced reefers.

Yes that will get the cycle started. But make sure you are creating good surface agitation or adding an air diffuser because the O2 is an important piece. Other than that you’re off to the races!
