bulkhead leak in new setup- stress levels up

Ihad a few drips to fix when I leak tested too. Dam sch40 bulk heads suck. I never had this problen with sch80.

I will never touch the type of ABS bulkheads shown here and available everywhere, again. I had one develop a hairline crack that was undetectable after about a month of use, even though I hand tightened it (I'm not that strong, at all!!!). Only after this incident did I learn you can get Schedule 80 bulkheads that you basically cannot crack. They work every time, first time, and they give me peace of mind, which is worth every penny.

I've had absolutely no trouble with the dozens of ABS Sch40 bulkheads I have used - you may just have been unlucky. Sch80 are fine, though most require a bigger hole for the same nominal plumbing size.

I’m not sure where the failure was but IM is sending me a new bulkhead to try again. I also ordered a heavy duty gasket to try as well. I had an extra 1” union so once the. I’ll head arrives I’ll cut and glue another piece of pvc and try again.

So IM sent me the replacement and I installed it. Cleaned everything really good and all is well. No leaks!!!

How long should I have it run to “pass” the test and move on to getting salt in the tank?

I usually suggest overnight. I like to put some paper towels under where a drip might drop so I can tell if it is dropping a drip. Lol
