I have slip 1'' bulkheads in my two overflows. Do I need to glue the connections inside the overflow sections? Should't really matter if it leaks in there right?

I know I will glue the pipes coming out of the bulkheads under the tank in the stand of course.

Thanks!

No glue on the insides :) Only the outside where you don't want water leaking out :)

I don't glue them inside the overflow, just make sure your sump can handle the full volume should they drain down in the event of a power loss.

yeah....I will be testing that for sure. I have to account for that and the height of the supply loc lines in the tank.
I think i should be good though, I have a 40 gallon breeder for a sump which will only be about 8'' filled while running.

Did you make your sump? I only ask as I am now in possession of a spare 40 breeder that I want to turn into a sump as well, and I am looking for ideas :)

Yes I made it.
I bought the kit on Ebay, came with everything I needed. I was going to have a glass company cut me some glass, but this kit was just easier.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the two top pieces for bulkheads and filter socks didn't go all the way across the top of the tank, but a lot of silicone holds them in place nicely.

With this I am also buying the 1'' aquamesh to put just past the skimmer to make a chaeto section, nicer than using a baffle there because water flows through evenly and I can always remove it anytime I want.

Nice! I'm definitely going to look into that! :):)
