Hey yall, I was wondering if ABS bulkheads are good for a 40 gallon breeder or if I should go for schedule 80 bulkheads. I'm planning to get three 1 inch bulkheads and one 3/4 inch for the return. Also, would you use threaded or slip bulkheads?

ABS Schedule 40 bulkheads are just fine for all plumbing applications related to our tanks, 80s are nice, a little easier to work with but absolutely overkill. If you do get ABS slip bulkheads be sure to use the proper glue for ABS/PVC plumbing. Personally I use threaded Bulkheads with the proper thread sealant this allows me to easily replace bulkheads if something fails with them. Inside overflows I use slip/thread bulkheads with the slip being on the flange side. This allows for quick removal of the overflow plumbing inside the overflow box for cleaning or adjusting.

Schedule 40 is just fine. I prefer the glue in slip as the threaded ones have leaked on me.
Here’s a bulkhead sizing chart from BRS to help out. Schedule 40&80
