Hey all - I've got a tank that's been set up for about 4.5 years. The other day I noticed that I had a little bit of salt creep coming out from the bulkhead of one .75in return. I wiped it clean, and two days later there is a tiny bit of creep - just barely enough to be wiped away.

Should I go after it with a wrench and try to tighten a bit? OR let it sit and see what happens? What are the chances it ruptures or somehow gets way worse very quickly?

My obvious concern with tightening is going TOO Far and it cracking. I have spare parts, but I'd have to cut off part of the line and re-plumb that section. I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks!

Maybe it will seal itself. I would not mess with it. You could put something very fine in the return water. Like stirring up the fuge bed and hope a small particle will seal it.

Bulkhead nuts can work themselves loose over time. I’d not put a wrench on it, but maybe it’s hand tightenable. FWIW, leave salt creep as it acts as a kind of seal.
