Bulkheads giving me trouble. Help please!

I'm having an extremely hard time twisting on the bulkheads. They are the ones that came with my DB tank

So I'm pretty sure i am going to get new ones. Any suggestions on which ones to get?

Standard bulkheads found at your local reef store, or online should all be fine. Why are the bulkheads you have not working? J

Yea definitely get new ones. When I got my deep blue frag tank that was the first thing I did. Try your lfs and if you can't get them there you can order from BRS.

Ya I'm just going to order them from BRS or premium aquatics. They get it to me so fast since it is only 2-3 hours away

A basin wrench like used for sink drains is a great tool to have when working with bulkheads, the head swivels around so you can get at things easily, even in tight spots like overflow boxes.

I much prefer thread x thread bulkheads and use LaCo PVC thread lubricant or an equal instead of teflon tape on the joints.

Alright once I silicon it then its final. Last chance for people to say no don't do it just cap it!

I like the glass idea though.

Do you have another thread on this subject? This one makes no sense? What are you having trouble with and what are you siliconing? I see no reference to any of this?

You shouldn't silicone in bulk heads no reason to. If installed properly should not leak at all

Ha sorry if you are confused. I couldn't get the bulkheads to twist on. So I'm going to silicon this double strength piece of glass to cover the holes

Bulk heads to twist on to what?? Can't get the nuts on them? Can't get them in the hole??

Can get the nuts to twist on! Ha obviously if it doesn't fit in the hole and I didn't figure out that it's to big I should go back to 1st grade

Ha it's all good I'm just messing with you. Ya I definitely need an extra set of hands! But something is wrong with the threads on the bulk heads. So that's why I'm just going to cover up the holes. I am drilling new holes on the back by the way

Even if you are drilling new holes in the back, get new threaded bulkheads and threaded plugs to seal the holes instead of hoping silicone will maybe seal a piece of glass over the holes.
Do it right the first time or pay dearly in the future.

I got the idea from someone local and then looked it up and I've seen it be very successful. But ya I'll just get new bulkheads and cap them
