This is either a significant injury or rotting flesh from bacterial issue. Immediate treatment will be needed in a separate sterile tank using Seachem kanaplex which is broad spectrum and absorbed by the fish.Hi all,
A day or two ago I noticed a bump on my file fish, now he presents with an open wound. He is also acting lethargic.
Any ideas?

Since you saw a bump that transitioned to an open lesion, an injury is much less likely.Hi all,

I’d say this is a ruptured abscess. Is the fish still eating? My worry is that it may have a systemic infection.
