Looks like bumpy skin, I have never seen this before so I dont know if it's a disease, virus, parasite, etc.

The tang doesn't rub against the sand or anything just fyi

Thank you for all responses :)

I would think a type of lympho...generally harmless though ugly and with good parameters and husbandry will disappear over time.

That would have been my first thought, but Lympho is white, these are color of the fish.

A more clear picture a little closer would be nice, but I understand that can be difficult. How long have you had him, and has he had these the entire time?

Agree with these questions. I don’t see obvious ich, velvet, brook, or any common ailments. A better close-up photo is needed for further help. :)

When I got him he had these, but I didn't notice them while in the store. I've had him for 3 weeks or so now.
I tried to get some more pictures but its difficult to try and get the bumps

Can you clarify for us, are the bumps white or are they the color of the fish?

Sorry, I'm at a loss. I've seen stuff like this on Tangs, but they normally only last a few hours to day. I haven't seem something that persistent related to stings or stress.

I would try a FW dip. I had a Kole that had a spot/bump that was the color of the fish, I didn’t see it until it was too late and it turned out to be flukes.
