No I don’t have drip loops never heard of that , yes I threw that out along with the heater and wave pumpLooks like they got wet and burned up. I would throw that away. Do you have drip loops on your cords? I'd unhook everything and plug them one by one into a gfci outlet and see if it blows.

You should be good to go then. Water probably flowed down the cord and when it fried the plug, it zapped your fish. Another thing that you should look into is a ground probe. It'll prevent stray voltage in the tank hopefully keeping you and your fish safe. I think it'll also help blow the gfci faster in case of an electric failure "exploded heater" in the tank.
