Where I lived last, my DI resin would last a long time, probably a good year while doing regular water changes on a 40 gallon with a TDS going into the DI resin of about 15 PPM. Right now where I currently live my TDS going into the DI resin is only 3-4 PPM and so far after making approx 100 gallons of water, I have burned through half of the DI resin.

I have the BRS 5 Stage Premium Plus system. I have looked at last year's water report for my city and it shows chlorine for sanitizing with no chloramines.

Not quite sure what would be causing it to be used up so quickly

Most likely co2, if so you may need to offgas it in a container before pumping it through the resin. The last home/area I lived in has this same problem, very low TDS nto DI but I got about 100 gallons per canister usually less.
