Bushy acros

I am falling in love with my ora borealis, and I think what I like about it the most is the "bushy" PE. I am now trying to put together a list of Acros that I want. Any of you all experienced acro keeps out there, What are some Acros/other SPS that are know from having large "bushy" polyps?

I has seen pictures of ora Scripps it looks crazy.

i dont think scripps is a real bushy one ,,but i may be wrong . im a fan of big bushy polyps as well so one of my favorites is the ora yellow fuzzy

I will look that one up. You're right about the scripps, it was the ORA Chips I was looking at lol.

yea ora chips is no longer produced by ora , definatley an awesoem shaggy one and kind of hit or miss so ive heard.. some people still have it around though

I love milles as they can get really bushy. If you're looking for thick "bushy" PE then any A. tenuis like the Borealis will fit the bill.

thanks for that answer, gives me a point of reference when searching for new stuff. my LFS happens to have some incredible millies and a Walt Disney colony, which I just looked up and it is A. Tenuis species.

Man if you can score a true WD... That's awesome. How much would it cost you for the colony? One of my most fave Milles is the Aqua SD rainbow Mille. The polyps are a different type of bushy it's insane.

My fave tenuis right now is the Sexy Corals orange passion and it's pretty bushy for me. I have a tenuis from Sulawesi and it's a no namer but it is bushy as heck!!!

Yeah iI was looking at a true WD and a Orange passion yesterday in my LFS. Both were pretty amazing in person. Not sure the price I didn't ask. Only been keeping acros for a couple months want to make sure they are thriving before I drop that kinda coin. Also, I looked up the rainbow millie, and that thing is stunning. thanks for the tips.

the WD colony wasn't for sale, it was what they frag off of I believe.

+1 on the A. Millepora recommendation! There are tons of great ones to choose from in all kinds of colors. My favorite (though I haven't seen one in forever) is the Heaven 'N Hell milli by @CherryCorals. Some of the other guys in here can give some good recommendations too. @hybridazn @d2mini

Yeah, it's hard to beat Millepora for bushiness! I love them.
This was my Sunset Mille in my last tank.

And this Shaggy Green Humillis was great too

You can also look at ORA's "Joe The Coral" for a fairly bushy acropora.

Milli's are tough to beat for having awesome PE. Another one I like is the Reef Raft pretty in pink. Here is a pic of mine

I was looking at this one today. the are having there after the sale sale, and they had on of these up. but I'm saving for Joe Knows Reefs live sale.

Prostrata's are pretty bushy. Joey has a WD in the shop?

Yeah, but it may be awhile before it is fragable again I think he cut a bunch of frags RAP NY.

I don't recall if I was still using the Tamron 90mm at that point or my newer Nikon 105mm.
Was one of the two and either is a fine choice.

One thing I have been noticing is the different structures of the polyps. For example the A. tenuis has the more symmetrical star shaped polyp like *. But the A. millepora has a tiny little * with one long tentacle extending from the * shape. then some A. species have what appears to be just one or two tentacle per polyp. and again some have what appears to the eye like a little puff of tentacles with no symmetry.

please excuse my use of highly scientific terms

I would love to read more on this subject if anyone knows of some source material or studies. I assume these differences have something to do with the differentiation of the species.
