But What Are Pods?

I have come across many threads mentioning pods, but when I have started searching for threads about what they really are all I find is ID threads. Can anyone point me to a thread talking about what they are or different kinds.;Yawn

Actualy very simple and often poorly explained.
Isopods, amphipods, copepods.
There a thousands of each of them. A few show up in our tanks.
