Butcher block vs plywood under tank

I searched and didn't see much on this specifically. I have a steel stand that I was going to put 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood on top to support my tank.

Alternatively I have access to a new butcher block piece that is 1.5" thick and would work perfect and same me money.

Any concerns or issues with butcher block? I would paint/seal it same as the plywood.

What type of tank do you have? If it is a tank with a rim you can use one piece of plywood.

I would definitely steer clear of end grain butcher block, but I’m going to assume at 1.5” it is edge grain. I would still be a little nervous about expansion and contraction, but it might be fine. plywood is more dimensionally stable

Perfect. I was very hesitant on the butcher block and don't want to innovate on support of the tank but wanted make sure I wasn't passing up the opportunity for no reason.
