Butchered my Rainbow Acan

I have a 5" by 3" Acan that I fragged this morning. I went the barbaric route
and used a screw driver and hammer.
I started at the back part of the exposed skeleton that had coralline growth and hacked about an 1" length by 3" wide.

I ended up with 3 pieces. 5 heads, 3 heads and 2 1/2 heads.

This is my 1st time fragging an Acan and have a few questions.
I don't have a QT or frag tank. So I just placed the Acans back into the tank. Thats ok right? or will the Narssisus snails try and munch on the exposed tissue?
Whats the time frame for healing?
Which grows out 1st the skeletal or tissue?
I also added a drop of Kents concentraded Lugols Iodine into my tank.

Will the trauma cause the Acan to change color? Because it looked more orange than purple prior to the fragging.

What will happen to the back part of the Acan now that I chopped off some of the exposed skeletal, will it start to grow out on that end again?

Your helpfull responses/advices is very much appreciated.

BTW I placed the frags on that slab of rock which should be ok right? or should I super glue them onto some LR?

Nah it will be just fine. Putting them back in the main is probably best anyway since they are used to the water already.

I agree it will all be fine. A little flow to keep the mucus off and will heal nicely.

It shouldn't change color.

I have it sitting in moderate flow.
Are these guys night eaters? Do their feeders come out at night only.
Reason I ask is because some Mysis shrimp was sitting on top of the mouth for about 10 mins or so but it wouldn't eat nothing happened.
I'll try spot feeding it again when I get tonight.

Some parts around the mouth is starting to turn orange again and less purple on the other side of the mother colony.

They are slow eaters, if they decide to eat for you, IME. I think a few of my echinatas open up if I try to feed them, but most don't. They do typically put out feeders at night, though. Lords will take your fingers off.

Well that explains itthen, slow eating Enchinatas.

Man, I had my hopes up when I read this quote from Eric Borneman and A Calfo. (Thanks for the link msman825)

So Enchinatas are slow growers then.

This is the exact pic of the Rainbow Acan Enchinata that I fragged.
The pic was taken from the guys tank that I bought it from.
That's exactly how it looked when the guy pulled out from his tank.
I was disappointed that most of the orange was gone when I placed it in my tank. More of the Purple and Green colors started to come out.

So that one started with orange? Cool. I have a huge colony (~7-8") that looks just like that, but only has orange in a few spots around the edges (but seems to be picking up more orange). Every mouth is a purplish color. It's amazing what some LFs' can get sometimes.

Mother colony and other fragged pieces are growing out also.
Wonder how long it'll take to cover up some of the rock it's glued to?

To be honest it started just like your? I gues It would be called a Rainbow?
I fraged these about the same time it seems you fraged yours? I useda wet saw?
